about us

Founded in 2008 and operationalized in 2020, New Orleans FPC convenes non-profit organizations, businesses and individuals to shape public policy to improve equity, opportunity, and collaboration across all aspects of our local food system. Our work includes educational programming, Farm to Early Care Education, technical assistance for food advocacy, direct lobbying, and grassroots advocacy.

what we do

  • Advocate for equitable food policy at a local, state and national level

  • Communicate policy changes and shifts to the wider New Orleans community

  • Provide technical assistance to groups who want to work on food policy at the local and state-level.

  • Facilitate a network and community of food organizations, businesses, producers, and policy makers to ensure communication, growth and efficiency in the food system.

  • Provide direct assistance with federal food access programs such as SNAP and DSNAP to community members

  • Evaluate the local programs and policies within the food system
