Eat Local Bike Ride

We had a lovely Eat Local Bike Tour celebrating June as Eat Local Month last Thursday! Check out some highlights from the evening. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter and follow us to stay up to date on details for the next bike tour in the fall! Special shout-out to coordinator Lisa for making it all happen!

SWAG cups included a laminated map of stops, local food recipe card, stickers, temporary tattoos, hand fan, bamboo straw, SPF lipbalm, credit card holder and cup!

We started off the bike tour at the Crescent City Farmers Market Thursday Market along Lafitte Greenway in Midcity at 5PM. Palm and Pine provided fresh summer salad samples using ingredients from the market and homemade dressing.

The next stop was a garden chat at SPROUT NOLA. SPROUT offers farmer training and “Volunteer for Veggies” programs.

We then biked to the native meadows along the Lafitte Greenway to learn about sustainable agriculture practices such as native meadows and cover cropping.

The group stopped at Faubourg St John Community Garden just as the sun was setting on the shared garden space.

The evening concluded with a celebratory toast and Eat Local discount at Secondline Brewing, our final stop along the Lafitte Greenway.

We look forward to another bike ride in November. Sign up for our newsletter or follow us on instagram to hear about it first!
